Not Ready for Popsicles

Ry has the cutest "sad face"... sometimes we provoke it.

Sleepy Bath

Sleep Giggling

Ry does a lot of cute things, but this has got to be the cutest. Every night after his last feeding and right before we put him in his crib, he has a drowsy giggling fit. It usually lasts about 2 minutes. I caught the end of it here:

First Father's Day

Brent,
Remember the day we found out I was pregnant? I was shocked... and terrified. And you? You smiled, and then you laughed at my reaction. That's when I knew you were meant to be a dad. Over the next few days while I panicked over our financial situation, rearranged plans to finish my graduate degree, and mourned the loss of the Europe vacation we were hoping to take this summer, you were nothing but positive. Throughout my entire pregnancy, you were there every step of the way. Every midwife appointment, every blood draw, every parenting class. You read books to my belly at night before bed and loved to feel our baby kicking inside me.
The day our baby arrived, I saw your eyes tear up the first time you held him.
I know it's been an adjustment. You don't do well on little sleep and yet you still volunteer to rock him after his 4 am feeding.

Ry absolutely loves you, and smiles everytime you walk into the room.
And of course you still manage to spend time with our first-born.
You are already the best daddy, and our adventure has just begun.
Happy first Father's Day :)

Congratulations, Callie

Callie's graduation was on Saturday, the 19th. We drove up from the cabin early that morning!
can't believe you're old enough to graduate high school...

prom was held after graduation - David and Callie were looking good in their masquerade gear ;)

Little sister, I know it was a hard road for you but I'm so proud that you finished. Can't wait to see the wonderful things you do and so happy you've chosen to go into nursing!

Hood Canal

Ryland is now taking his first nap at home since Thursday. We've been going non-stop. Early Friday we drove a couple of hours to a friend's cabin on Hood Canal. It was beautiful and we spent the day and night hanging out on the beach, sitting around a camp fire, and dancing on the deck with friends.
Beautiful view from the deck
watching Brent and Shelby play in the water

Shelby was in heaven

balls and ocean are her favorite things.

Brent is a Graduate

We've been waiting for this day for many years! Brent is now a certified K-8 teacher with a bachelor's degree in special education. I'm so proud of him for sticking with his program and 3 years of night and summer classes. Congrats, love!

FOLKLIFE

I usually spend Memorial Day at a work conference - which was in San Antonio this year. Since I have a teeny tiny baby, I obviously skipped out on it. Instead we stayed close to home... it was so rainy and dreary in Seattle. On Monday, the sun came out and we headed to Seattle Center for Folklife - the northwest festival celebrating northwest culture and raising environmental awareness. Basically there's a lot of food, performances. and hippies. Ry loved people watching and amazingly took a nap while we were there (I thought he'd be too stimulated to sleep.) It was a successful outing.

he loves the Moby wrap - FINALLY!

sleepy baby and the space needle - we thought his "save the rainforest" shirt would be appropriate for this festival.

very interested in hacky sacks.

still watching people play hacky sack

2 Month Photos

It was HARD to get good photos today.

the collar of this shirt was taking over his cute little face

and apparently Shelby thinks this "boogie-boogie" is hers

and Ry can't take his eyes off of her

and the backdrops won't stay up...

taking photos is MUCH easier with 2 people.

these are the best I got:

can't go wrong with a onesie and close-ups. I'll get more creative for the 3 month photos.

2 Month Appt.

Ry is enjoying his Superman sticker from the Dr.'s office.

Snoopy bandaids

2 month appointment today! Ry-guy now weighs in at 12 pounds 1 ounce and is 22.5 inches long.

His stats are:
Weight - 60th percentile
Length - 47th percentile
Head - 75th percentile

so he's doing great, and has a big noggin.

I was really worried about how he'd do with his vaccinations but no tears for this baby! He was a little uncomfortable and startled for the pokes, but as soon as they were done he gave the nurse a BIG smile and no crying since. What a tough guy!
