Photo Update

Go Dawgs!
Dad is pretty excited to have someone to watch football with
Brent has been spending most of his time at home playing with the babe.  I really appreciate him getting up with Ryland in the mornings so I can sleep a little.  My little teether is not sleeping so well at night right now!
Ry loves giving kisses
and he really loves his daddy... although there is no denying he is a momma's boy for sure.
he has been feeling pretty crummy lately - we think it's teeth as I noticed a little white poking through his gums today.  But it could be another of those pesky calcium deposits disguised as a tooth!
the only current family photo of us.  time to utilize the tripod and remote-controlled shutter I think.

and I leave you with this:
I love where we live.

Ryland and I went to the sculpture park last week to meet up with a "mommy group" - all the other kids were a year old and very mobile.  Ryland LOVED watching them.  I think we'll make it a weekly venture.

I was THIS big...

Exactly 3 weeks before I had Ryland.  I seriously think my belly is sticking out about 3 feet in front of me.
This picture just cracks me up.

My Yeasty Beast

See that white tongue?

for the past week I've been talking to Brent about how thick my milk must be because I kept noticing a lot of white in Ry's mouth which I thought was milk residue.   On Saturday night, we noticed he had a diaper rash - which he's never had before.  Sunday morning the rash was way worse, Ryland was refusing to nurse, and I was particularly sore.  It took that long for me to realize that he has thrush - as do I.  I opened his mouth and was shocked to see the insides of his cheeks and the roof of mouth were covered with it - as well as his lips.

Poor baby... mama's guilt.

He's all fixed up with creams and drops now - our first non-routine doctor's visit!  I'm also very happy to report he's eating again - his little mouth must be feeling better.  Definitely know what to look for now so hopefully it won't ever get this bad again.

Labor Day Camping

Wish Poosh is one of my favorite state parks in Washington - I love all the grassy fields surrounded by mountians.  Makes for gorgeous photos.

Ryland and I joined some of my family there for Labor Day - Chase and my dad stayed home.  My mom, sisters, and their boyfriends all made it out though.  Here's Auti and Chuky playing Indian Poker.  Hope Chuky didn't bet much on that hand!

Auti and Chuky are musical - they sang and played guitar the whole weekend.  Ryland LOVED it.

So much fun.

Our campsite had this great field in the back

of course I got lots of cute shots of the baby boy

Ryland spent the weekend being passed from aunt to aunt and Mimi

it was cold so we spent a lot of time playing in the tent

Mimi and her only grandbaby

Ryland loves airplane rides
and finally we got some pictures of us together.  Usually I'm holding the camera so I'm never actually *in* the pictures.

Ryland had a blast, looks like we have a little camper on our hands.  Don't know how much camping we'll be doing in the future as Brent has realized he doesn't like it much at all.  He prefers a hotel.  What a wuss ;)

Don't you just want to EAT him?

I do.

Trip to Google

Our good friend Tom works for Google in San Francisco. He sent Ry this onesie before he was born. He was in town working from the Seattle branch on Thursday so Ry and I visited him for lunch. First of all, I need to figure out how to get a job at Google. Their Seattle office is awesome - you can bring your dog to work, there is exercise equipment with built-in desks (walk while you work, I love it.), ping-pong tables galore, and a restaurant where you can eat for free all day long. Ry and I took advantage of the restaurant (well, I did anyway). Secondly, Ryland was a hit in his Google-gear. Tom even gave him his security badge to complete the outfit.

5 Months Old

What to say? We've been parents for 5 months. We really couldn't ask for a cuter, sweeter, or more well-behaved baby.

we think he's pretty close to perfect :)

Here's what our little Ry-Guy is up to recently:
  • He sits REALLY well now - no more tumbles!
  • He suddenly loves his rice cereal - I mean LOVES. Literally screams when he sees the box come out of the cupboard.
  • He wants "real food" sooo badly - licking his lips while I'm eating and reaching out to grab anything from my plate. I've given in a few times. I was eating a pear for breakfast while he was eating his cereal - I may have mashed up a little and given him some... He was in heaven. I guess my philosophy is if he's interested, he's probably ready.
  • He has the cutest laugh ever - I'm going to empty the videocamera onto the computer tonight - maybe if you're lucky I'll upload some.
  • He is sleeping pretty well. Usually he goes to bed at 8 in his crib, wakes up around 4 for a snack then I bring him into our bed. He's usually up and ready to start the day at 6:30.
  • He takes 3 naps a day - one around 9, one around noon, and one around 4.
  • Still hates to sleep when we're out and about
  • Loves his feet - and my feet (he laughs and laughs whenever he sees my feet, weirdo.)
  • He JABBERS constantly - our neighbors have reported hearing him from their house.
  • He loves Shelby - especially when she wags her tail. That's so funny.
  • He has some favorite toys. He just discovered the green car (in above pics). He likes to roll it around on the ground (such a BOY!) and then eat it. He also loves his kick and play piano.
  • He loves sleeping with his mama - if I ever want a good long nap, I just lay him down with me and he's out for at least 2 hours.
I was having a hard time getting him to sleep because his little hands are so busy. I found tucking a stuffed animal in his palm to run his fingers through solves the problem. I took this picture after he was done soothing himself but it's still cute.

are you melting? Love that face.

and I love his serious face too. He's just so darn photogenic.
